We were challenged with the task of using a collection of data to tell a story. The transgender community faces extreme high rates of violence and harassment. When reporting these instances, little is done or acknowledge by the police. Insufficient action leads to a lack of incentive to report these cases. This has created a detrimental cycle and perpetuates mistrust between transgender people and the system.
We created an awareness campaign to engage a wide audience in a conversation that is being dictated by very few.
Book
At Every Turn tells a story of what life can be like as a transgender woman. At the end of the story, the reader is prompted to physically turn the book around, following with helpful tips on how to be an ally. This physical action is a metaphor for the very real need to change the cycle of violence and discrimination against transgender people.
